Roman chamomile grows close to the ground, reaching a maximum height of 30 cm. It has grey-green leaves, daisy-like flowers, and an apple scent. It has earned the nickname “plant doctor” because it has a positive effect on plants growing near it. Ancient Romans used Roman chamomile oil to give them courage during war. Although Roman chamomile is most commonly used in teas, it can also be found in face creams, hair dyes, shampoos, and perfumes. The calming properties of Roman chamomile essential oil work well on the skin and body.
